The Stampede is over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get your fill of Country fun here in Calgary! Country Thunder is a massive Country music event that features great bands singing songs from the heartland. Taking place August 16-18 in Prairie Wind Park, Country Thunder features multiple stages full of old-fashioned Western goodness.

Here are just a few of the big names coming to Country Thunder this year!

Miranda Lambert: Back in 2003, Miranda Lambert first made a name for herself by finishing third place in her season of Nashville Star. Since then, she’s shown that she’s got the goods again and again by releasing hit after hit. Bringing a sweet voice and a sweeter heart to the stage she’s a must-see. Watch her perform her latest hit “It All Comes Out in The Wash” on the main stage at Country Thunder!

Jake Owen: Jake Owen is one of those people who would be successful an anything he did. He was set to be a pro-golfer until a wakeboarding accident left him unable to play. That’s when he started writing Country music and we’re glad he did. Otherwise we wouldn’t have great songs like “The One That Got Away,” “Anywhere With You,” and “Down To The HonkyTonk.”

Terri Clark: Canada’s own Terri Clark has been a country superstar for nearly three decades now, exploding on to the scene in the mid-90s and staying relevant straight through today. She brings  telecaster twang and a no-bull approach to the sound of pop country with hits like “Girls Lie Too” and “I Just Wanna Be Mad.” We can’t wait to catch her at Country Thunder.

And many, many more, including Alberta favourite Roots & Boots and the winner of the Country 105 Rising Star Award! It’s bound to be a boot-stomping good time at Prairie Wind Park.

Can’t wait to catch the lightning of Country Thunder? Book a room at the Days Inn Calgary North Balzac now to get ready for a great weekend of great music!
